Zakat Calculator

Simple mode uses live metal prices, then adds your cash, other zakatable assets, silver, and gold, subtracts your debts and bills, shows both silver and gold minimum values, and calculates 2.5% if zakat is due.

How it works

Think of 24 karat as pure gold. If your jewelry is 18K, divide 18 by 24, so it counts as 75% pure gold. Then multiply that purity by the weight and the gold price per gram. The equation is:

(karat / 24) x grams x price per gram x 0.025 = zakat on that gold

Cash and other zakatable assets count at their full amount. Silver is grams times the silver price per gram. In Simple mode, enter your cash, other assets, silver, gold, and debts or bills. The calculator subtracts those debts and bills, shows both minimum values, and if zakat is due it takes 2.5% of the net total.

Include cash and bank balances. Leave out the value of your home, personal car, and everyday belongings.
Include goods held for sale at their current market value. For example, a used-car dealer includes all 200 cars held as stock.

Debts and bills

Based on SeekersGuidance: deduct immediately relevant debts and upcoming month expenses. For long-term debts, use the next payment rather than the full loan balance.

Hanafi: include all gold and silver, including jewelry worn for personal use.

Silver

Enter total grams of silver, including jewelry, bars, and coins. Include personal jewelry as well.

Silver price $0.00 / gram
Silver value $0.00

Silver value: 0g x $0.00/g = $0.00. Its share of zakat, if zakat is due, is 2.5% of that value: $0.00.

Gold holdings

Enter total grams for each karat, including jewelry, bars, and coins. Advanced mode shows the math for the weight included in zakat.

If you disagree with the fetched gold price, or your jeweler gives a lower buyback price, type whatever price per gram you want to use.

Goldprice.org blocks direct browser requests to its dbXRates endpoint, so this calculator uses Goldprice.dev by default for live gold. It tries the same source for silver, but Goldprice.dev silver is plan-gated on the free API, so it falls back to GoldMarketDaily plus Frankfurter FX when needed. Goldprice.org is still linked as a reference.
